World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz showcased his dominance by defeating Daniel Evans with a score of 6-2, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, securing his place in the US Open’s fourth round. Despite his loss, Evans made history as the first player to snatch a set from Alcaraz in this year’s tournament. Alcaraz praised Evans as a challenging opponent, appreciating their exciting match.

Medvedev Keeps Hopes Alive

Daniil Medvedev outplayed Sebastian Baez with a score of 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (6), breaking the Argentine’s 12-match winning streak. Medvedev, a former world No. 1, expressed satisfaction with his performance, particularly his ability to capitalize on crucial moments in the match. He remains in contention for his second US Open title.

Medvedev noted, “A bit of luck and some good plays from me kept me in the set, and it’s good to not finish at 4 am.”

Zheng Advances in Women’s Draw

China’s Zheng Qinwen clinched victory against Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti with a score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4, securing her spot in the US Open’s fourth round for the first time. After a strong start, Zheng faced resistance from Bronzetti but rallied to secure the decisive set. Zheng acknowledged the challenges of playing against a formidable opponent and aspires to improve further.

Zheng shared, “I hope I can try to be better in this part.”

Historic Moment for Chinese Women

Zheng’s advancement into the fourth round makes history, as she joins her compatriot Wang Xinyu, marking the first time that two Chinese women have reached this stage at the US Open.

Zheng’s next challenge will be Tunisia’s fifth seed Ons Jabeur, who defeated No. 31 seed Marie Bouzkova with a score of 5-7, 7-6 (5), 6-3.

In the women’s doubles, Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe triumphed over China’s Zhu Lin and Wu Fang-hsien from Chinese Taipei with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.

In mixed doubles, China’s Xu Yifan and Belgium’s Joran Vliegen defeated the local pair of Ashlyn Krueger and Ethan Quinn with a score of 6-2, 7-6 (2).
