Virat Kohli Equals Sachin Tendulkar’s ODI Century Record with Unbeaten 101

In a remarkable feat, Virat Kohli achieved his 49th century in One-day International cricket, matching the legendary Sachin Tendulkar’s record for the most ODI centuries. This extraordinary achievement came as Kohli scored an unbeaten 101 against South Africa at the Eden Gardens.

Kohli’s century was a masterful innings, crafted in 119 balls, including ten boundaries. What makes this accomplishment even more astonishing is the fact that Kohli reached his 49th hundred in just his 289th ODI, a staggering 173 matches faster than Tendulkar, who achieved this milestone in his 463rd match.

During this match, Kohli’s unbeaten 101 came off 121 deliveries. The 34-year-old batsman also notched up his 79th hundred for India, leaving him just 21 short of Sachin’s world record of 100 international centuries.

In a previous encounter against South Africa, Kohli became only the second Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar to amass 3000 runs in international cricket against South Africa.

Additionally, in a recent match against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli set another record by scoring 1000 runs in a calendar year for the eighth time in One Day Internationals, surpassing Tendulkar’s previous record of seven times.
