Indonesian weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah delivered a historic performance at the IWF World Weightlifting Championships 2025, capturing two gold medals and setting a new world record in the men’s 79kg category.
The 21-year-old Olympic champion (previously in the 73kg class) lifted 204kg in the Clean and Jerk, breaking the previous world record of 202kg. His total lift of 361kg (157kg Snatch + 204kg Clean and Jerk) also earned him gold in the total category.
Juniansyah added a bronze medal in the Snatch with his successful lift of 157kg but missed two attempts at 162kg.

Earlier in the championship, Indonesia’s Eko Yuli Irawan also secured a bronze medal in the 65kg Snatch with a 137kg lift.
Juniansyah’s record-setting performance adds another milestone to his already stellar career, marking Indonesia’s growing dominance on the world weightlifting stage.

Who is Rizki Juniansyah?
Born on 17 June 2003, Juniansyah grew up in a family with a strong background in weightlifting and began training as early as nine years old. His father, M. Yasin (1966–2024), a successful national weightlifter, represented Indonesia in five consecutive SEA Games from 1983 to 1993 and clinched bronze medals at the 1985 and 1987 SEA Games. His mother and two older siblings were also competitive weightlifters. His brother-in-law, Triyatno, who later became his coach, is a bronze and silver medalist at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, respectively.
He began his career at a young age, winning gold medals at the 2017 and 2018 PPLP National Championships. Additionally, he has earned gold medals at the 2018 Youth Regional Sports Week, the 2018 Provincial Sports Week, and the 2021 National Sports Week, representing Banten.
He currently specializes in the men’s 79 kg lightweight class and holds various world records at the youth, junior, and senior IWF competition levels. He is the current Olympic champion, having won gold at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, making him Indonesia’s youngest Olympic gold medalist in history and its first in weightlifting.
