American football dates to the mid-nineteenth century, when schools began playing matches using adapted rules from rugby and soccer. As professional football became more popular, many businesses started to support teams. The Professional American Football Association (APFA), the precursor to the Football National League that was founded in 1920, was established because of this (the NFL). Ten teams that had previously operated in some capacity as regional teams made up the initial roster of the APFA. We decided to order the teams on this list according to the day they joined the NFL rather than the day they were founded.

Arizona Cardinals

Only two teams—the Chicago Bears and the Arizona Cardinals—made the NFL’s inaugural roster. The fact that they have continued to operate up until now is quite astounding. Even earlier than the NFL itself, they have a history dating back more than a century under the official title of Athletic Morgan Club. This biggest football team made the decision to set up shop in Arizona in 1988. Owner Chris O’Brien is primarily responsible for the team’s official name and colours. He referred to their previous jerseys as “Cardinal red.” Later, the squad adopted that name as its distinctive brand.

Chicago Beers

The venerable Chicago Bears football club is ranked second among NFL franchises in terms of age. Decatur, Illinois, was their first metropolis. The team’s formal headquarters moved to Chicago in 1922, and they still go by that name today. The team’s initial sponsor was The Staley Starch Company. George Halas, a renowned trainer, later purchased it for $5000. His growth in that direction is on track. There is no doubting that the Chicago Bears continue to be the most prosperous sports team in existence right now. The Chicago Bears won eight NFL championships prior to the Super Bowl, which is a great fact about them. 1967 saw the Bears’ Lone Super Bowl victory.

Green Bay Packers

Although the Green Bay Packers didn’t sign on with the league until the second season, they have the honour of being the longest-running franchise that has never relocated or had a name change. The Green Bay Packers were founded by George Whitney Calhoun and Earl Curly Lambeau. Former player Mike Lambeau was hired as the Packers’ first head coach.

New York Giants

One of the rare NFL teams that have played its whole history in the same city is the New York Giants. Tim Mara formed the Giants squad in 1925 after paying $500 for a New York NFL franchise. Mara had put another $25,000 into the squad at the end of the first season to keep it going and guarantee that New York would always have a professional team. In addition, the New York Giants have also won four Super Bowls (2011, 2007, 1990, and 1986) and four NFL Championships (1927, 1934, 1938, and 1956).

Detroit Lions

When CEO of Detroit radio George A. Richards paid the then-unheard-of sum of $8,000 to acquire the Portsmouth, Ohio, Spartans, the Detroit Lions were born. In 1929, the Spartans were established, and the NFL accepted them the following year. Two years later, the Spartans faced the Chicago Bears in the championship game, one of the most significant matches in NFL history.

Washington Redskins

The Redskins were established in 1932 by George Preston Marshall, the team’s original owner. He considered various names before settling on Redskins, which has been used since 1933. Marshall relocated the team’s headquarters to Washington, D.C. because he was dissatisfied with the audience’s indifferent attitude in Boston. Additionally, the Redskins were the first team to use a marching band and cheerleaders.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Arthur J. Rooney founded the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1933, and the Rooney family is still the team’s current proprietors. The Pittsburgh Steelers won four AFC championships, seven AFC Central championships, and eight straight trips to the playoffs in the 1970s. The Steelers went on to become the only squad to win the Super Bowl Series twice in a row and the first NFL club to win four Super Bowl games.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams arrived back in their hometown. The Rams franchise was founded in Cleveland in 1936 and entered the NFL the following year, giving these two towns a strong connection to the organization. In 1945, the Rams played their final match—a championship game they won—in Cleveland before being relocated to Los Angeles for the following season.

Philadelphia Eagles

Since 1933, when a syndicate led by the deceased Bert Bell and Lud Wray paid $2,500 for the defunct Frankford Yellowjackets club, the Philadelphia Eagles have been a significant part of Philadelphia sports history. There have been numerous highs and lows for the Philadelphia Eagles, including their first Super Bowl victory in 2017.

Cleveland Browns

Local entrepreneur Arthur B. McBride founded the Cleveland Browns in 1944 after buying a franchise in the upcoming All-America Football Conference (AAFC), which would hold its first games in 1946. The following year, the franchise, along with the San Francisco 49ers and the early Baltimore Colts, entered the NFL. The Browns maintained their dominance in the NFL and continued to win the NFL Eastern Conference title for six years straight from 1950 to 1955, as well as three NFL championships in 1950, 1954, and 1955. A prominent sports league is the NFL. It is true that this league is well-known throughout the world.
