Why Every Top Club Needs A Player Like Kimmich In their Team

Joshua Kimmich A German footballer who debuted for Bayern Munich under Pep Guardiola in the 2015-2016 Season. Started as a substitute and later become part of the starting eleven.

He started as a box-to-box midfielder for Bayern. He later shifted to the Right back position as the great Philip Lahm was hanging his boots. Not much was expected from Kimmich in that position but oh Boy he exceeded everyone’s expectations. He ran down the whole right flank. Bombarded the opponent’s box with crosses, was back in his defensive role as soon as the opposition had possession.

No one thought that a midfielder can play as a wing-back so well. He made that position his own for the coming years. After playing as a right-back under Guardiola, he shifted to his natural position which was as a defensive midfielder under Nico Kovac and Hansi Flick. There was no turning back then. He performed his defensive role with complete control and started providing assists from there. From 2018 Kimmich played a free role in midfield.

He went forward, assisted goals, scored goals, got back, made interceptions. If a Right back was injured or not available he played in that role. If an attacking midfielder, he played that role with perfection. Be It Right wing Left Wing, Midfield, Right back Left Back, you name it and Kimmich can play it. A versatile player like Kimmich is a blessing for a team. Kimmich was at the core for Hansi Flick’s Sextuple-winning Bayern Munich. He was one of the biggest reasons Bayern Munich won the 2020 Champions League trophy. He is very similar to Legends Like Lothar Matthäus, Ruud Gullit and Philip Lahm himself. He is a boss on the field. If a team has a player like Kimmich then the coach can sit back and have faith in Kimmich that he will manage it on the field.
