West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has quietly made his way back into the spotlight. After missing the 2024 T20 World Cup due to injury, the tall Caribbean star has bounced back strongly in the 2025 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Leading the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Holder has shown why he is still one of the most valuable T20 all-rounders in the game. In the ongoing CPL, he has already scored 267 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 167.92, while also picking up 13 wickets with an economy rate under 8. His ability to deliver with both bat and ball makes him a rare asset in modern cricket.
With this kind of form, it won’t be surprising if multiple franchises line up for him in the IPL 2026 auction. Let’s look at three teams that should seriously target Jason Holder.
1. Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Rajasthan Royals have often struggled to find the right balance when it comes to all-rounders. In the past, they tried players like Chris Morris and Nathan Coulter-Nile, but nothing clicked for long. Even during Holder’s short stint with RR in 2023, he couldn’t make a big mark, but things are different now.
In 2025, RR lacked batting depth and collapsed in run chases far too often. Their lower middle order couldn’t support the top order, and the pace bowling unit also lacked consistency. Jofra Archer has mostly played the role of a bowler and not a complete all-rounder.
This is exactly where Jason Holder fits in. He can be the reliable No. 7 or No. 8 who gives both finishing power with the bat and control with the ball. His presence would ease pressure on Archer and give RR the balance they have been missing for years.
2. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Sunrisers Hyderabad had one of the most unbalanced squads last season. Their new-ball bowling wasn’t strong enough, and their lower middle order failed to fire. While they tried out options like Nitish Kumar Reddy and Kamindu Mendis, the results weren’t convincing.
For a team like SRH, an all-rounder is the perfect solution. Holder brings two things they need desperately: new-ball breakthroughs and late-order power hitting. His experience in handling pressure situations also adds value.
If SRH want to fix both batting depth and bowling strength in one move, Jason Holder is the answer.
3. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Lucknow Super Giants and Jason Holder have history. In their debut IPL season in 2022, Holder was one of their most impactful players, picking up 14 wickets and chipping in with handy runs. But surprisingly, LSG released him after just one season.
Since then, LSG have struggled to find a proper all-rounder. Their lower order has often looked thin, relying too much on Abdul Samad or Shahbaz Ahmed, while their bowling unit has been injury-prone.
Holder solves both problems. He can strengthen their batting after the top three, and with the ball, he can share the new-ball duties. His variations, including the slower ball that dips late, make him an asset at the death overs too.
With Mitchell Marsh often sidelined due to injuries, Holder could easily be the reliable all-rounder that LSG need to stabilize their squad.
