Why Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 Will Not Use DRS
PSL 2025 final matches to be played without DRS as Hawk Eye team did not return to Pakistan due to border tensions Full details here.

There will be no DRS in PSL 2025 – lack of technology or something else?
Pakistan Super League 2025 has reached its final stages, but this time, a major technology is not visible in it, which is DRS. Recently, the league started again, but the Decision Review System was not brought back. The reason for this is not only technical but is also a little related to geopolitics.
Hawk-Eye team did not travel back to Pakistan
The DRS system was in place in PSL 2025 from the beginning, but after the league was temporarily suspended on 7 May, the Hawk-Eye team that provided DRS did not return. They cancelled their travel due to rising border tensions between India and Pakistan. For this reason, all matches after the restart of PSL are being played without DRS.
The league resumed without any controversy
After the suspension, five matches of PSL 2025 have been played in which no report of any major umpiring controversy has come till now. Neither has PCB given any official comment on this situation till now, nor has any clarification come from PSL.
Big challenges in front of schedule and production
Due to the growing tensions between India and Pakistan, PSL had to immediately rework its schedule. One match had to be shifted from Multan to Lahore so that the movement of camera equipment was reduced. Also, the production crew had to stay for an extra week due to which their logistics became even tighter. Due to all this, it became difficult to re-enable the DRS system.
Pakistan vs Bangladesh series also rescheduled
The Test series between Pakistan and Bangladesh which was to start from 25 May, its schedule also had to be adjusted. Now the series will start from 28 May after the PSL final and instead of 5 matches, only 3 matches will be played.
Who’s in the Playoffs Race
There will be an eliminator between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday. Quetta Gladiators defeated defending champions Islamabad United by 30 runs to make it to the final for the first time since 2019 on Wednesday. United will now face Thursday’s winner on Friday for the second seat in the final.
The remaining matches of PSL 2025 will now be played without DRS, which is happening for the first time after the introduction of Decision Review System. This change is not just a technical glitch but is part of the changed situation in the operating ecosystem of the Pakistan Super League.
