The two-time T20 World Cup winners, West Indies, have confirmed their place in the Super Eight stage of the Men’s T20 World Cup, being the first team to confirm their spot.
WI vs NEP: The Discipline
Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, the West Indian bowlers were right on the money from the first ball, with Akeal Hosein starting things off by picking up the wicket of Kushal Bhurtel in the first over of the game for the fourth time in T20I cricket.
Hosein was well supported by Matthew Forde, who was included in the playing XI in place of Romario Shepherd and bowled his four overs in one go, giving away just ten runs and also managed to pick up a wicket. The spell in question also happens to be the most economical spell by a West Indian bowler in the T20 World Cup.
WI vs NEP: The Support
The good work done by the West Indies’ new ball bowlers was carried forward by the likes of Jason Holder and Shamar Joseph, with the former being the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4 for 27. Along with the fast bowlers, the team’s spinners also did their job by keeping the Nepalese batters in check in the middle phase of the innings, which resulted in them being able to restrict the opposition to a below-par total of 133 runs.
WI vs NEP: The Batting
If we talk about Nepal’s batting performance, the team struggled for the majority of the innings, with the batters not being able to get their eye in before Dipendra Singh Airee and Sompal Kami added 54 runs for the seventh wicket to help Nepal post a respectable total on the board.

WI vs NEP: The Chase
Chasing 134 runs to win, the opening pair of captain Shai Hope and Brendon King started cautiously by keeping the good balls out and latched onto anything that was there to be hit. The duo added 43 runs for the first wicket before Brandon King was dismissed.
King’s wicket didn’t have any impact on Shai Hope, who carried on in his usual fashion by rotating the strike and hitting the occasional boundary, thereby keeping the scoreboard moving.
Shimron Hetmyer, who walked in to bat after the fall of the first wicket, also looked in complete control during the 91-run partnership between him and Hope, which took West Indies to their third consecutive win, with Hope scoring an unbeaten half-century.
WI vs NEP: The Effort
The Nepalese bowlers started well by keeping the batters quiet in their first six overs, but lost control with both ball and in the field as the chase progressed, which resulted in a nine-wicket loss for the Rohit Paudel-led side.
