PV Sindhu, the absolute Indian badminton sensation, is having a hard time recently having lost major championships. Sindhu is one of the most celebrated players ever in the sport, both nationally and internationally. She has won five BWF World Championships, making her the most successful Indian athlete in badminton ever. 

She also became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal and the first to win two Olympic medals in badminton, so what’s troubling Sindhu now? She has been losing every single tournament she appeared in the 2025 season. She’s facing issues marking a long-awaited victory as she has not won a single tournament after Syed Modi International in 2024. PV Sindhu is facing numerous challenges in her journey to regain her top form after a series of losses in her 2025 campaign. Her last victory was at the Syed Modi International 2024, where she won the trophy by defeating Wu Luoyu of China. However, that was her last significant win as she began her 2025 season with disappointing losses and early exits. 

She started her year with India Open, where she actually did well until she couldn’t and lost in the quarterfinals in three games. Then she lost in the Round of 32 in Indonesia Masters but this isn’t the worst. PV Sindhu faced a destructive early exit in the very first round in the All England Open against Kim Ga Eun, which also marked her fourth consecutive first-round exit at the tournament. Now, the Swiss Open is ongoing, and she lost in the first round again on 19 March 2025.

It is evident that she’s not in her usual form, and a major reason might be her hamstring injury sustained during training sessions ahead of the 2025 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships, which also delayed her competitive run after her marriage. But despite these setbacks, she’s determined to improve her game and recover from her injury to enhance her performance, so let’s take a look at her future opportunities.

After her recent marriage, PV Sindhu has mentioned on several occasions that she feels excited and motivated about returning to the game. She has consistently shared her intention to remain active in competitive badminton for the next few years, which means she might be eyeing an Olympic medal at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. After her injury blows, she now aims to maintain her health and fitness and recover from the injury fully so she can compete efficiently in the upcoming tournaments. 

Under the guidance of her new coach, Irwansyah Adi Pratama, she will be looking to enhance her game with a more aggressive and consistent playing style. She is set to participate in upcoming events like the Sudirman Cup in April and multiple events like the Taipei Open and Thailand Open in May. Even though PV Sindhu has experienced major blows and early exits till now in the 2025 season, she remains positive about her future endeavours, and it will be exciting for to her make a much-awaited comeback.
