Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025: India Squad Announced, Ritu Negi To Lead

The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 is scheduled to take place in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 17th to 24th November. A total of 12 teams from all over the world are set to feature in the tournament.

This will be the second edition of the tournament. The inaugural edition was held in 2012, where the Indian women’s team emerged victorious after defeating Iran 25–19 in the final.

This will be the first time that a Kabaddi World Cup to be held outside India, with all previous editions of both the men’s and women’s competition having been hosted in the country.

Organised by the the IKF (International Kabaddi Federation), the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup is was initially slated to be held in Rajgir, Bihar in India June 1 to June 10. However, the state pulled out from hosting responsibilities ahead of the start of the tournament.

The event was then relocated to another city in Hyderabad where the Gachibowli Stadium was set to host the event. Again, the organising body had postponed the tournament indefinitely.

Taking place after a long hiatus of 13 years, this World Cup promises to be action-packed with thrilling encounters.

Indian women’s team for the World Cup

The Indian team has been officially announced for the upcoming Women’s Kabaddi World Cup.

Asian Games winning captain Ritu Negi will once again lead the team, with Pushpa Rana donning the role of the vice-captain. The Asian Kabaddi Championship-winning captain Sonali Shingate also features in the squad, this time as a player.

The rest of the squad includes Pooja Narwal, Bhavna Thakur, Sakshi Sharma, Pooja Kajla, Champa Thakur, Mini Narwal, Ritu Sheoran, Ritu Mitharwal, Sanju Devi, Dhanalakshmi, and Anu Kumari.

The team will be guided by experienced coaches Tejaswini Bai and Kavita Selvaraj, who bring a perfect balance of leadership and strategy to India’s World Cup campaign.
