Women’s Kabaddi World Cup: India Off To A Flying Start, Beats Thailand In Group A

India started their campaign at the IKF Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 with a convincing victory over Thailand in Dhaka on Tuesday. The defending champions routed their opponent 65-20 in Mirpur.

Following their triumph against Thailand, India are now slated to face Bangladesh (19 November), Germany (20 November), and Uganda (21 November) in their Group A fixtures over the next two days.

In another match of the day, Bangladesh captured their second consecutive victory in the second Women’s Kabaddi World Cup  2025 as they beat Germany by 57-27 points in their Group A match at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in the city.

Bangladesh earned three lonas by dominating the first half by 28-29 points against a comparatively weaker German side, who started to take part in kabaddi competitions in 2023.

The host nation earlier started their campaign with a 42-22 points win over African champions Uganda in the opening match on Monday.

In their remaining group matches, Bangladesh will face defending champions India today before facing Thailand on November 22.

A total of 11 nations are competing in the tournament. This marks the first time a Kabaddi World Cup is being held outside India.

The tournament returned after a long hiatus of 13 years since the maiden edition was held with the participation of 16 teams in India in 2012, with the host nation emerging as the champions.
