World Test Championship: New Zealand announce their 20-man squad to take on England for ICC World Test Championship final against India
Setting eyes on the World Test Championship finale, New Zealand has named a 20-man power-packed squad to face India in the marquee event. Led by Kane Williamson, the squad includes three uncapped players – Rachin Ravindra, Devon Conway, and Jacob Duffy – to face India in the finale set to be played in June later this year. The same squad will also tour England, the Blackcaps have confirmed.
New Zealand is set to play two tests against England as a precursor to the World Testing Championship, with the first test starting on June 2 at Lord’s in London and the second test taking place on June 10 in Birmingham. Ahead of these two tests, New Zealand will play a training match against Somerset in Taunton from May 25-28, 2021.
The New Zealand Test squad for England sees Rachin Ravindra and Jacob Duffy joining Devon Conway in the 20-man squad for their tour of England, which will include the World Test Championship final against India.
Doug Bracewell is also included in the squad whose last Test came in 2016 and the squad sees the return of spinner Ajaz Patel. However, the Black Caps selectors didn’t consider Lockie Ferguson as they opted to protect him for the T20 World Cup.

The batting department of Blackcaps will be led by the skipper himself along with Tom Blundell and veteran Ross Taylor. BJ Watling will be expected to assume the duties with the glove with Tom Latham and Daryll Mitchell sharing the responsibilities with the bat. Devon Conway’s fiery knocks in the recent T20 series against Pakistan have earned him a well-deserved call-up for the prestigious match. Henry Nicholls and Colin de Grandhomme have also been named to the squad for the World Test Championship finale.
The pace department of New Zealand is led by Trent Boult including Neil Wagner along with veteran Tim Southee. Ajaz Patel and Mitchell Santner have been included in the squad to boost the spin department.
