Players to Watch Out For

Meg Lanning (Delhi Capitals)

Meg Lanning

Delhi Capitals captain Meg Lanning is one of the most successful batsmen in the WPL. She has scored 691 runs in the WPL so far, including 6 half-centuries. Although she was dismissed for just 15 runs off 19 balls in the first match against Mumbai Indians, there is no question about her class and technique.

Lanning’s cover drive and strike rotation are excellent, which allows her to handle any bowling attack. In this match, the team will expect a big innings from her, so that DCW can put up a strong score.

Smriti Mandhana (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

PC: FirstPost

RCBW captain Smriti Mandhana is the backbone of the team’s batting. Although she was dismissed for just 9 runs in the first match of WPL 2025, she has scored 458 runs in WPL so far, including two half-centuries.

Mandhana’s aggressive batting style, excellent timing and great footwork against fast bowlers make her a dangerous batsman. RCBW will be hoping for a big and fast innings from her in this match.

Kotambi Stadium Vadodara: Pitch Report

The pitch at Kotambi Cricket Stadium in Vadodara is generally considered to be favourable for batsmen, but fast bowlers may get help from swing and seam movement at the start of the match. As the game progresses, the pitch becomes easier to bat on, leading to the possibility of big scores.

Apart from this, spin bowlers can get extra turns from the pitch in the second inning, which can make scoring runs a little difficult. The average score of the first inning on this ground is 164 runs, while the average score of the second inning has been 159 runs.

Historically, the winning percentage of teams batting first on this ground is 54%, while the winning percentage of teams chasing has been 46%.

Two matches have been played on this ground so far in WPL 2025, in which the team batting second in both matches has won. In the first match, Royal Challengers Bangalore chased the target of 202 runs against Gujarat Giants (201/7) by losing only four wickets, which is also the biggest run chase in WPL history.

Apart from this, in the second match, Delhi Capitals chased the target of 165 runs against Mumbai Indians (164/10) and won by 2 wickets on the last ball.

DCW vs RCBW: Who will win this match?

Both teams are full of confidence after winning their first match. The contest between the batting depth of Delhi Capitals and the aggressive batting of Royal Challengers Bangalore will be interesting. However, Delhi’s bowling looks a bit stronger, which may give them a slight edge.

Delhi Capitals (DCW) is more likely to win this match, but defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCBW) can also pose a tough challenge.
