MI were asked to bat first after Delhi Capitals’ captain Meg Lanning won the toss and chose to field. Harmanpreet Kaur was the standout performer for MI, scoring 66 runs to help her team set a decent total. She formed an 89-run partnership with Nat Sciver-Brunt for the third wicket, after both openers, Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia, were dismissed early. Sciver-Brunt supported Harmanpreet well during the partnership.

MI looked set for a bigger total but lost several wickets quickly. After being 103/2, they fell to 118/6 as the DC bowlers made a strong comeback. Amanjot Kaur and Sanskriti Gupta hit a few boundaries to help MI reach close to 150.

In response, DC also lost their openers, Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma, early. Lanning hit a couple of fours before being bowled out by Sciver-Brunt for 13, while Shafali was dismissed LBW by Ismail. Marizanne Kapp and Niki Prasad fought hard to get a win, but Kapp was out in the 18th over. Niki battled bravely, but in the end, her effort fell short.
