Women Premier League (WPL) Auction 2023 – Live Updates: On this day of 13th February 2023, the first ever auction of the Women players for the different WPL teams is about to start. In Mumbai, history is being marked, where owners of the teams would be placing their bids on the women players from across the globe. According to the sources, about 1525 women players had applied or registered for the WPL. Only 448 players made it to the final list and will be going under the hammer.
Majority of the players on the list, i.e., 269 players are from India. 179 players are from the other nations while 19 are from associate nations. It is estimated that that the WPL will mark the beginning of a brand-new chapter in the growth of sports for women and the overall growth of the game. It will bring immense revenue for the nation and would prove to be a boost for the women cricket players as well.

The auction purse of each franchise is of Rs. 12 crores. The base prices options were given to the capped players. The choices were – Rs. 30 lakhs, Rs. 40 lakhs and Rs. 50 lakhs. The setting of the base prices for the uncapped players was done at Rs. 10 lakhs and Rs. 20 lakhs.
Maximum number of slots that can be filled by each team at the auction is 90.
