Who Is Deeya Yadav? – Vaibhav Suryavanshi holds the record as the youngest player to debut in the IPL, and now the Women’s Premier League has its own young star. 16-year-old Deeya Yadav from Haryana has set the record for the youngest WPL debutant.

Deeya made her debut while playing for the Delhi Capitals in the 13th match of WPL 2026 against the Mumbai Indians in Vadodara on Tuesday, 20 January. At just 16 years and 103 days old, she broke the previous record held by G. Kamalini, who debuted in WPL 2025 at 16 years and 213 days.

Historic Debut for Delhi Capitals

This milestone was highly anticipated. In the November 2025 WPL auction, Deeya caught attention when the Delhi Capitals purchased her for a base price of ₹10 lakh, making her the youngest player ever bought in the WPL auction. Despite being signed, she didn’t play in the opening matches of the season. After the Delhi Capitals lost three of their first four matches, the team finally gave the young batsman her chance.

Youngest Player Purchased in WPL Auction

Her debut coincided with another change in the teams. Kamalini was ruled out of WPL 2026 due to injury. In her place, 20-year-old Vaishnavi Sharma made her debut for the Mumbai Indians, making the match notable for featuring two new young players.

Deeya Yadav’s debut is a historic moment for women’s cricket, highlighting the growing opportunities for young talent in India. Following in the footsteps of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who became the youngest player in the IPL, Deeya Yadav shows that age is no barrier to making a mark on the professional stage.

Deeya Yadav – A Bright Future Ahead

Her record debut not only sets a benchmark in the WPL but also inspires aspiring cricketers across India. Fans will be watching closely to see how this young talent develops over the coming seasons.

With this performance, Deeya has officially etched her name into WPL history and continues the trend of teenagers making headlines in professional cricket, proving that the next generation of players is ready to step into the spotlight.
