WTC final : Fitness update of KL Rahul, Prasidh Krishna and Wriddhiman Saha

The three players are yet to pass the fitness tests before becoming a part of the World Test Championship squad.

The announcement of the World Test Championship squad saw some players yet to receive the green flag on joining the team. Earlier this month Prasidh Krishna, KL Rahul, and Wriddhiman Saha were held back to pass some fitness tests before joining the camp.

Prasidh Krishna has been chosen as a stand-by for the entire England tour, however, he was tested positive during the IPL because of which he has been under home quarantine. With his reports yet to arrive the pacer is still on hold.

KL Rahul who was out of the IPL due to appendicitis surgery has been recovering well from it and he is likely to join the camp.

Wriddhiman Saha who was chosen as a backup wicket-keeper for Rishabh Pant was also tested positive during the IPL because of which he was also spending the time in the quarantine period. Later on, he got himself tested and was found negative however in the second test he was found positive again. as a result of which his quarantine period has been extended. He is currently isolated in New Delhi.

The Indian contingent shall assemble on 19th May in a bio-bubble before leaving for the UK on 2nd June where they’ll spend another 10 days in the quarantine. The three players will have to make a cut before the 19th should they wish to join the camp. KL Rahul will not face such issues as he hasn’t tested positive however Saha and Krishna need to be tested negative twice before they can join the bubble.
