‘Ye deserve hi nahi karte. Bahaana kuch bhi nahi hai…’: One-liner by the former captain of Pakistan regarding KL Rahul vs Shubman Gill
When the former Pakistani captain was questioned about KL Rahul’s slump during the Test series against Australia, he had a biting one-liner to share.

In the second Test of the four-match series, Team India easily defeated Australia, taking a commanding 2-0 lead. Australia put up a relatively strong performance in the first match in Nagpur, but Indian spinners turned the game on its head on the morning of Day 3, bowling Australia out for just 113 after the visitors started the day on 61/1. The team defeated Australia by six wickets in Delhi.
However, despite India’s impressive performance, KL Rahul’s dismal series performance was one of the main talking points. Rahul scored 20, 17, and 1 in three innings over the course of the two Tests. There have been discussions about Rahul’s position in the Indian XI, and last week, Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra got into a heated exchange about it, with the former supporting Rahul’s removal.
Rashid Latif, a former Pakistani captain, was asked about Rahul’s poor performance after the Test, but he responded in a rather sarcastic manner. The anchor on Latif’s official YouTube channel questioned whether Team India should stick with Rahul in reference to Shubman Gill, another Indian opener who has sat on the sidelines in both games so far.
“Ye (Rahul) deserve Shubman Gill’s hote hue hi nahi karte. Bas inho ko khilaana hai, bahaana kuch bhi nahi hai. (Rahul doesn’t even merit a place in the starting XI with Shubman Gill present. Here, there is no justification. Latif claimed, “The management only wants to play him (Rahul).
In spite of a string of setbacks, Indian captain Rohit Sharma supported Rahul after the victory. “His batting has received a lot of attention recently. As team management, we constantly consider the potential of every person, not just KL. In the past, I’ve been questioned about numerous players. A man will get a long run if he has potential. not merely KL. If you take a look at the few hundreds he scored, particularly at Lord’s while batting on that soggy pitch. Another triumph was Centurion. India arrived first and won both contests. That is his potential, Rohit had stated at the press conference on Sunday.
India and Australia will play in the third Test in Indore on March 1 following a 10-day break.
