2021 WBBL: Adelaide Strikers win by 8 wickets against Sydney Sixers, seal their spot in the top 4

At the ongoing 2021 WBBL, another low total for Sydney Sixers, as were dismissed on just 82 due to an excellent bowling effort from the Adelaide Strikers.

It was another disappointing batting performance by the Sydney Sixers, despite choosing to bat first. A batting collapse, as they were 28/5 after the powerplay. Lost wickets of Alyssa Healy, Ashleigh Gardner, Ellyse Perry, two runouts of Shafali Verma & Nicole Bolton.

However, it doesn’t get better for Sydney Sixers, who lost 3 quick wickets of Angela Reakes, Maitlan Brown & Radha Yadav. Sydney Sixers was at 52/8 in 11.2 overs.

But then Lauren Cheatle tried to steady the innings but lost her wicket on 16 (off 16) – today’s highest individual score for the Sydney Sixers. At that stage, Sydney Sixers was at 76/9 (16.5 overs).

Meanwhile, Stella Campbell was dismissed – stumps by Tegan McPharlin with Sarah Coyte picking the wicket. With that, Sydney Sixers was All-Out on 82 (19.2 overs).

Adelaide Strikers Target is 83 Runs

Chasing a low total, the Adelaide Strikers had a great start. However, lost their 1st wicket in the last over of the powerplay, as Dane van Niekerk departed scoring a quick knock of 33 (off 22 balls), caught by Shafali Verma with Maitlan Brown picking the wicket. Adelaide Strikers was 54/1 (5.4 overs).

Then for the Sydney Sixers, the Indian player Radha Yadav gets a wicket, in her very 1st over of the innings. Dismissed Katie Mack on 24 (off 20 balls) as Ashleigh Gardner caught it. Adelaide Strikers was at 65/2 in 7.5 overs.

In the end, Laura Wolvaardt on 10* (off 14 balls) and Tahlia McGrath on 9* (off 8 balls) guided their team to a victory. Meanwhile, Adelaide Strikers chased down their target in under 11 overs. As they finished their innings at 84/2 in 10.2 overs.

As a result, Adelaide Strikers Women won the match by 8 wickets. Hence, the Player of the Match was awarded to Darcie Brown – 2/25.
