On Monday, we witnessed another low-scoring encounter between KKR and PBKS. Where KKR defeated PBKS comfortably. KKR finally won their 2nd match in IPL after continuously losing 4 matches. They are now 5th at the table with 4 points.

KKR invited PBKS to bat first and they restricted Punjab Kings on a low score of 123. Later Kolkata Knight riders chased that down in 17 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Eoin Morgan and Rahul Tripathi played a sensible inning and held their nerves till the end.

Important knocks from Morgan and Tripathi helped Kolkata win the match dominantly in just 16.4 overs. This made KKR’s run-rate improve to a good extent. Eventually, they made a climb to the 5th position on the points table from being at the bottom end.

It is to be noted that Net Run Rate plays a very big role at decisive times. Usually when 2 teams try to make up in the playoffs and there’s only 1 position left. At such times preference is given to the team with a better Run Rate.
