The Champions Trophy is returning after 8 years and is set to kick off on 19 February in Pakistan. The tournament will feature eight teams. However, all games featuring India will be taking place at the Dubai International Stadium.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the prize money on 14 February, and we are here to give you all the details.
The total prize pool is $6.9 million, which is a mind-boggling jump of 53% from the last edition of the tournament in 2017 where Pakistan beat India in the finals to lift the trophy.
For the first time in the history of the event, the last-placed teams will also receive prize money. All eight teams will be given a guaranteed $125,000 for participation. The last-placed teams finishing in seventh and eighth will take home $140,000 while teams finishing in fifth and sixth position will get $350,000 each.
The losing semi-finalist will be awarded $560,000 each while the runners-up will receive 1.12 million. The winners of the Champions Trophy 2025 will receive a whopping amount of $2.24 million as prize money along with the trophy on 9 March.

Jay Shah, the chairman of the ICC said, “The substantial prize pot underscores the ICC’s ongoing commitment to investing in the sport and maintaining the global prestige of our events. Beyond the financial incentive, this tournament ignites fierce competition, captivates fans worldwide, and plays a vital role in fostering the growth and long-term sustainability of cricket for future generations.”
The tournament was last played in 2017, but it’s now scheduled to be held every four years. The Women’s Champions Trophy will also debut in 2027.
The Champions Trophy 2025 starts on 19 February in Karachi at 2:30 PM IST where Pakistan will face New Zealand in the opening match. The series will take place across Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. However, all the matches involving India will take place in Dubai as the team was not allowed to go to Pakistan. The league will feature 15 matches with the finals taking place on 9 March.
