During the post-match presentation, MI captain Hardik Pandya praised his bowling team for sticking to their plans and getting the job done. He said:
“I think the way we bowled today was very smart and spot on. We stuck to simple basic plans. Certain balls were not easy to hit. Credit to the bowlers that we made them hit some good shots. We were kind of squeezing them.”
Hardik Pandya also spoke about the pitch, mentioning that the ball was getting stuck on the surface. He said:
“If u look at it, it had a nice green grass look to it. The first couple of overs that Deepak bowled, couple of balls got stuck in. We decided to use change-of-pace balls. As soon as we figured out, we trying to mixing it up. We executed the yorkers very smartly.”

Hardik Pandya also praised all-rounder Will Jacks for his Player of the Match performance (36 runs & 2/14) against Sunrisers Hyderabad, despite dropping Abhishek Sharma on the first ball of the match.
“That is the beauty of Jacks. He can be a gun fielder. Bowl those gun overs. Today it came off for him. When we needed 42 off 42, it was tricky. We wanted to take our time. It is going to be a great game. It is going to be a packed house (against CSK).”
Mumbai Indians delivered a solid performance in their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, winning by seven wickets at Wankhede Stadium on May 6, 2024.
Mumbai chose to bowl first and did a great job restricting the strong SRH batting line-up to 173/8. Hardik Pandya (3/31) and Piyush Chawla (3/33) both took three wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah was economical with 1/23.
In their chase, the Mumbai Indians got off to a rough start. The top order collapsed quickly, with Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, and Naman Dhir all falling early, leaving Mumbai at 31/3 and under pressure.
But Suryakumar Yadav teamed up with Tilak Varma and turned things around. Suryakumar played a brilliant knock, scoring 102* off 51 balls, while Tilak supported him with a calm 37* runs. Together, they put on a match-winning 143-run partnership off just 79 balls, finishing the game in 17.2 overs.
