Following being inserted to bat, MI New York appeared stable at the beginning courtesy of a relaxed 38-ball 63 of Quinton de Kock. Although prominent names such as Agni Chopra, Monank Patel, and Nicholas Pooran couldn’t contribute, de Kock helped MINY achieve a challenging score.

Late cameos from Kieron Pollard, who hit four boundaries in an over, and Sunny Patel, who hit three in the 18th, pushed the score to 182/7 in 20 overs, after a clinical death-bowling performance by Haris Rauf, who took 2 for 24.

Early Collapse for Unicorns Despite Explosive Start

Pursuing 183, SF Unicorns started with fire in their bellies as Finn Allen dismissed Trent Boult for two sixes in the first over. Their pace was soon broken as Naveen-ul-Haq dismissed Allen in the second over, setting off a top-order collapse.

At the end of the powerplay, SF were struggling at 42 for 4 with Jake Fraser-McGurk, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, and Cooper Connolly all back in the dugout.

Hassan Khan’s Counterattack Puts Unicorns Back in the Game

Amid the mayhem, Tim Seifert could not find the gears to quicken. But from the opposite side of the pitch, Hassan Khan flipped the game around with a passionate 17-ball 43 that had 5 soaring sixes.

Along with Seifert, he added a 64-run stand from just 31 deliveries to keep SF within contention. Both, however, left soon after, and Corey Anderson could not make a difference, crawling to 9 off 13 balls.

Xavier Bartlett’s Blazing Finish Steals the Show

In a game where everything else was in the balance, Xavier Bartlett came up with a scintillating display. He blasted 25 runs in the 15th over from Michael Bracewell, infusing new life into the Unicorns’ run chase. Even after the fall of Anderson, Bartlett remained calm but belligerent.

He dismissed Trent Boult in the 17th over for 16 runs and appropriately ended the game with a six over long-on off Kieron Pollard, giving San Francisco their third consecutive victory in MLC 2025.
