Dimitrov is a seasoned player known for his elegant style and has been playing flawless tennis throughout the tournament. He dominated the early sets by winning the first two sets by a commanding win, with a score of 6-3 and 7-5. All he needed was the win in the third set; however, the game took a dramatic turn as he collapsed to the ground. Jannik Sinner, who had been battling with a right elbow problem himself, expressed sympathy for Dimitrov after the match. He insisted that he did not see the match as a win and wished Grigor Dimitrov a speedy recovery.

He said, “I don’t take this as a win at all, this is just an unfortunate moment for us to witness,” Sinner said after the match during an on-court interview. “[Dimitrov] has struggled in Grand Slams with injuries a lot, so seeing him again with this injury is very tough. We all saw by his reaction how much he cares about the sport, and he is one of the hardest-working players on tour.”

With Dimitrov’s retirement, Jannik Sinner has now secured his place in the Wimbledon quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive year. He is set to face the 10th seed, Ben Shelton, against whom he holds a strong head-to-head record.
