The WTA Japan Open is underway from 3 to 19 October 2025 in Osaka, Japan. This is the 4th edition of the Japan Women’s Open, and part of the WTA 250 tournaments of the 2025 WTA Tour.

The tournament is being held on the hard courts at the Utsubo Tennis Center in Osaka.

The Japan Open is a WTA 250 event. In 2015, the event transitioned from Osaka to Tokyo, relocated to Hiroshima in 2018, and returned to Osaka in 2023.

The filed at Japan Open 2025 comprises of a total of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The Kinoshita Group Japan Open became a women’s-only event for the first time in 2009. After a three-year hiatus, the event returned in 2023 at the WTA 250 level.

Japan Open 2025: Prize Money Breakdown

The total prize money at the 2025 edition of the tournament is $275,094, representing a 3.00% increase from the 2024 total.

The winner in Japan will receive $36,300, 3% more than Suzan Lamens received when she won the title last year.

All the main draws see the same % increase. First-round losers will receive $2,975, a 2.9% increase compared to 12 months ago.
