Pakistan Retain Core Squad for Under-19 World Cup

The Pakistan Under-19 selection committee has retained much of the same squad currently competing in the Under-19 Asia Cup. The continuity of the team shows confidence in the group’s performance leading into the ICC Under-19 World Cup.

The only inclusion different from the Asia Cup squad is that of right-arm fast bowler Umar Zaib, who comes in place of left-arm spinner Mohammad Huzaifa in the main squad.

Farhan Yousaf Continues in Leadership Role

Farhan Yousaf has already captained Pakistan in the ongoing Under-19 Asia Cup, in which the side has reached the final, to be played against India in Dubai on Sunday. His appointment as captain for the Under-19 World Cup further underlines the trust of team management in his leadership and batting ability.

Tri-Series in Zimbabwe Ahead of World Cup

The green-jerseyed squad will join a tri-series in Zimbabwe before the Under-19 World Cup commences, with Afghanistan being the other member.

Tri-series dates: December 25 – January 6

Aim: Preparation match before the Under-19 World Cup

World Cup start date: 15th January

This series will provide valuable international exposure and help the squad fine-tune combinations.
