Tokyo Olympics 2021: India’s PV Sindhu loses to Tai Tzu- Ying in Badminton Semi-final

I PV Sindhu has received support from Taapsee Pannu and Neha Dhupia after she lost to Tai Tzu Ying in the Badminton Women’s Singles Semi-final at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics. It was on Saturday evening Taapsee expressed her disappointment over Sindhu’s loss in the Badminton Semi-final.

This time it was not meant for PV Sindhu. PV Sindhu who was previously the Rio Olympic silver medallist failed to qualify for the second successive Olympic final as she lost to World No.1 Tai Tzu Ying.

PV Sindhu lost the semi-final Taiwanese star 18-21,12-21 in 40 minutes of play, recorded four straight losses to her. It was a moment of heartbreak to PV Sidhu. Whereas it became a moment of redemption for her opponent Tai Tzu Ying who reached the Olympic final for the first time.

The Indian Badminton PV Sindhu still has an opportunity in this Tokyo Olympics to become the 2nd Indian athlete after wrestler Sushil Kumar to make a record of winning two Olympic medals. Sushil won the wrestling bronze in 2008 and won the silver in 2012. PV Sidhu on Sunday is going to play a bronze medal match against the opponent He Bingjiao from China.

The star Haseen Dillruba shared her thoughts in the tweet after the boxer Pooja Rani lost in the quarter-final. Taapsee wrote “(heartbreak emojis) for Pooja Rani and Sindhu! We are going to come back stronger!” Neha Dhupia addressing PV Sindhu, tweeted, “Well played @Pvsindhu1…down bur not out…all the best! @WeAre Team India #olypics#Team India# Tokyo 2020”.

The actor named Varun Dhawan earlier in the day was seen cheering for Sindhu. The actor shared a picture from the match which was streaming on television and wrote “Let’s go @pvsindhu, “adding an Indian flag emoji.

Taapsee also tweeted about the Indian shutters Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy. “So the only team who defeated the Gold Medal winners in Tokyo 2020 men’s doubles badminton are our boys! I would like to see the glass half full. We have a bright future with @ Shetty chirag04 and @ satwiksairaj And congratulations Chinese Taipei pair, see u next Olympics:)”.

As or India is concerned in this Tokyo Olympics 2021 has won only a medal so far. The Indian weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal in the 49kg category.
