The Most Successful Team in the History of the Sudirman Cup – China proved their dominance once again, as they defeated Japan 3-1 on Sunday, 3rd October at the Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland. Sudirman Cup 2021 Final saw the Top 2 Seeds battle it out.

Meanwhile, the next BWF Tournament will be the Thomas and Uber Cup played in Denmark from 9th – 17th October.

Both China and Japan topped their respective groups by winning all 3 Group Matches. In the Quarter-finals, China won 3-2 against Denmark. Whereas, Japan defeated Chinese Taipei 3-1.

In Semi-finals, China won against South Korea by a score of 3-0. Meanwhile, Japan won 3-1 against Malaysia.

Sudirman Cup 2021 Final – China vs Japan Line-up

The Sudirman Cup 2021 Final was a repeat of the previous edition, as Finalists of the 2019 Sudirman Cup battled it out again for the Championship Title.

First-Up was Men’s Doubles, where China’s He Jiting/Zhou Haodong defeated Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi of Japan 21-17, 14-21, 21-16. The match lasted for about 1 hour & 16 minutes as it went to a decider. The Chinese Pair gave a 1-0 lead to their Team.

However, in Women’s Singles, the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Champion Chen Yufei of China was defeated in two straight games 19-21, 16-21 by Japan’s World No. 5 Akane Yamaguchi. Akane Yamaguchi leveled it up 1-1 for Japan, the match lasted for 49 minutes.

It was Men’s Singles, which got interesting as China’s Shi Yuqi ranked 10th in the world won against the World No. 1 Kento Momota of Japan by a score of 21-13, 8-21, 21-12. China leads 2-1.

Meanwhile, Women’s Doubles was the encounter that crowned China as the Champions of the 2021 Sudirman Cup. The Chinese Duo of Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan won in straight games 21-17, 21-16 against Mayu Matsumoto/Misaki Matsutomo to let China lift Sudirman Cup Trophy for the 12th Time.

As a result, China won 3-1 Japan in the Final of the 2021 Sudirman Cup.
