The Thomas & Uber Cup is back as the 2020 edition is being played at Ceres Arena in Aarhus, Denmark from 9th – 17th October 2021. India, at the 2020 Thomas Cup, has been placed in Group C, alongside defending champions China, Netherlands and Tahiti.
Meanwhile, Denmark is hosting the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup tournament for the 1st time. The Thomas & Uber Cup is a World Team Championships with the Thomas Cup being Men’s side of the Tournament and the Uber Cup being the Women’s.
India’s Men’s Doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are back in action as they had missed the 2021 Sudirman Cup due to medical reasons.

Group C Encounter – India 5-0 Netherlands
The very 1st match is Men’s Singles, as Former World No. 1 Srikanth Kidambi of India was up against World No. 86 from Netherlands Joran Kweekel. The Indian won the match in two straight games 21-12, 21-14 in thirty-three minutes and gave India the lead 1-0.
Meanwhile, Next was the Men’s Doubles match, where India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty faced the Dutch pair of Ruben Jille/Ties van der Lecq. The World No. 10 Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty won in two straight games 21-19, 21-12 as the match lasted for 39 Minutes. Hence, India 2-0 Netherlands.
In the 2nd Men’s Singles match of the tie, India’s B. Sai Praneeth ranked 15th in the world was up against Robin Mesman of Netherlands. The Indian won comfortably in two straight games 21-4, 21-12 as he dominated throughout the match which lasted for about 27 Minutes. With this, India was confirmed of a win as they lead by 3-0.
The 2nd Men’s Doubles – too was won by India. As India’s pair of Arjun M.R./Dhruv Kapila ranked 46th in the world defeated the Dutch duo Andy Buijk/Brian Wassink in two straight games 21-12, 21-13 in about 30 Minutes.
The last match of the tie – the 3rd Men’s Singles match saw Sameer Verma of India face Gijs Duijs of Netherlands. The match lasted for about 29 Minutes as the World No. 28 Sameer Verma won in two straight games 21-6, 21-11 against the Dutch.
As a result, India won 5-0 against the Netherlands in their Group C encounter. Meanwhile, in the 2020 Uber Cup, India defeated Spain by 3-2.
