The 6th Match of the 2021 T20 World Cup was played between Bangladesh vs Oman on Tuesday, 19 October 2021 held at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground.
This 2021 T20 World Cup features two rounds, Round 1 – the group stage where there are 8 Teams divided into Group A and Group B. From here, 4 Teams will qualify for Round 2 – the Super 12s. This was a Group B encounter between Bangladesh and Oman.
Earlier, another Group B encounter took place between Scotland vs Papua New Guinea – as Scotland won by 17 runs with Papua New Guinea remaining winless are out of the tournament.
With this, the situation in Group B looks like this- Scotland stands at the top with 4 points. Whereas, Oman is 2nd and Bangladesh is 3rd with 2 points each. Papua New Guinea remains at the bottom.

Bangladesh had won the toss & decided to bat.
Bangladesh’s Good Bowling Effort leads them to win by 26 Runs
First Innings – Bangladesh posts 153 Runs
It was not the start that Bangladesh needed as 2 wickets fell during the powerplay. They were 21/2 within the first five overs.
Bangladesh’s star player Shakib Al Hasan came next to the crease. He then, along with opener Mohammad Naim Sheikh, held down the fort for the team as they added 80 Runs. But just then, a run-out – an amazing direct hit by Aqib Ilyas at the non-striker’s end got Shakib Al Hasan walking back to the pavilion. Shakib Al Hasan departed scoring 42 off 29 balls, saving his team’s innings.
Mohammad Naim Sheikh, still, stood strong as he achieved his half-century.
However, Kaleemullah gives Oman the breakthrough as he sent set batsman Mohammad Naim Sheikh walking back. Mohammad Naim Sheikh scored a good knock of 64 Runs (off 50 deliveries) leaving Bangladesh at 122/6
After that, the skipper Mahmudullah played a quick knock of 17 Runs off 10 balls. Other than – Shakib Al Hasan, Mohammad Naim Sheikh and Captain Mahmudullah, their batting order got out scoring in single digits.
A total of four wickets fell in the last 2 overs. As a result, Bangladesh finished their innings with 153 Runs on board, with all of their batsmen dismissed.
Second Innings – Oman needed 154 Runs to win
While chasing – there was an early setback for Oman as they lost the wicket of Aqib Ilyas – due to a LBW decision with Mustafizur Rahman taking the wicket. Oman were 13/1 in 1.1 overs.
However, a good knock by Kashyap Harishbhai Prajapati – 21 runs off 18, redeemed the innings, before getting out at the end of the powerplay. Meanwhile, Oman’s set batsman Jatinder Singh departed for 40 off 33 balls as Shakib Al Hasan provided the breakthrough. Oman were 90/4 in 12.6 overs, during that time.
After this, a batting collapse by Oman led to them ending their innings at 127/9. As a result, Bangladesh won by 26 Runs.
Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman took 4 wickets and all rounder Shakib Al Hasan took 3 wickets.
As a result, Player of the Match was given to Shakib Al Hasan for his all-round performance of 42 Runs (off 29 balls) & 3 Wickets.
