At the Indonesia Masters 2021 SF, one of the Women’s Singles encounters was played between Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi and India’s PV Sindhu on Saturday, 20th November 2021.

The ongoing Indonesia Masters is a Super 750 Level Tournament held at the Bali International Convention Centre located at Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia from 16th to 21st November.

Meanwhile, the tournament got upgraded from a Super 500 into a Super 750 this year.

Indonesia Masters 2021 SF: Akane Yamaguchi is into the Final of Women’s Singles

This Women’s Singles Semi-finals match was played at Court 1. Akane Yamaguchi is World No. 3 whereas her opponent PV Sindhu is Ranked 7th in the world.

In the Head-to-Head Record, it’s 12-7 in favour of PV Sindhu. They last met in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where Sindhu won the encounter.

At the 2021 Indonesia Masters, Yamaguchi is the No. 1 seed while Sindhu is seeded 3rd. In this Semi-finals encounter, the Japanese won the 1st Game comfortably by 21-13. Akane Yamaguchi was leading by 6-1. Then maintained the momentum as she was ahead by 9-3. Sindhu did win a few points but still was way behind. By the mid-game interval, Yamaguchi had an 11-7 lead. In the latter half, the 24-year-old Japanese shuttler won 4 straight points from 13-8 to 17-8. Eventually won the 1st game in about 17 minutes.

Meanwhile, in the 2nd Game, it was similar as Akane Yamaguchi was leading by 7-3. In the mid-game interval, an 11-5 lead for the Japanese. The 26-year-old PV Sindhu couldn’t do much as Yamaguchi had control of the game. From 15-8 to 20-8, five consecutive points for Akane Yamaguchi as she was one point away from winning. She won the game by 21-9 & clinched the match.

As a result, Akane Yamaguchi won the match against PV Sindhu in two straight games 21-13, 21-9 in about just thirty-two minutes. Yamaguchi has advanced into the next round – the Final, where she will either face An Se-young or Phittayaporn Chaiwan.
