The international friendlies that are about to happen between Bahrain and Belarus can be considered to be as the perfect opportunity to test the skills of the Indian football team ahead of the Asian Cup qualifiers and the same can be felt by Gurpreet Singh Sandhu and Sandesh Jhingan, who are the senior-most players of the team. The two upcoming matches of India against Bahrain and Belarus will be played on March 23 and March 26 respectively and will be played in Manama, Bahrain.
The Asian Cup will be held in China next year, with its qualifiers about to happen in June. There came a statement from the Indian goalkeeper Sandhu which can be read as, “We played Bahrain in the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 and are aware that they are a very talented team.” We are also aware that Belarus is a formidable adversary. It will be an exceedingly difficult test, but it will be a nice one since we will be playing a team from a UEFA member association, which is a huge accomplishment in and of itself.”
According to Jhingan, the current squad has so much potential besides being qualitative and this can help them win the cup as well. Star mid-fielder Anirudh also feels lucky as they will be able to play against such star teams that can help them gain an exhilarating experience.
