Who Is Christopher Board?

Christopher Broad is an Englishman who used to play cricket and who now works as a cricket official. Chris Broad was a left-handed opening batsman who did very well in 25 Tests and 34 ODIs. Broad became an ICC Test official in 2003

Christopher Cricket Career

Broad’s osteomyelitis at 15 slowed his cricket career. His first-class debut came for Gloucestershire in 1979, and he was a regular the following season. He also played for Orange Free State. After returning to Gloucestershire in 1993, Broad retired with a hip injury in 1994.

He was dropped for lack of form, although it was widely believed that the England management did not like his temperament. He memorably knocked his stumps out of the ground after being bowled in the 1988 Sydney Bicentennial Test. The tour manager fined him £500. Broad last played for England in 1989 against Australia. In 25 tests, he scored 162 and averaged 39.54. His four centuries came in Australia, New Zealand, and Pakistan.

Christopher Broad as Referee

Broad became an ICC Test official in 2003. He refereed Tests and ODIs, including the first World Cricket Tsunami Appeal match and the World Cup Super-Eights game between the West Indies and Australia.

Broad was the match referee for the second Sri Lanka-Pakistan test and was in a convoy assaulted by terrorists in 2009. In the attack, he reportedly saved an injured umpire. In a press conference, he and umpire Simon Taufel said, “We were promised tremendous levels of security, and in our hour of need, that security fled.” Six Pakistani policemen and two civilians died, while six Sri Lankan cricketers were hurt in that event.
