On the seventh day of IPL 2021, the Rajasthan Royals face off against Delhi Capitals here at M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Delhi Capital’s are coming off a win from their first match against CSK, where their batting and bowling performance worked out well, Rajasthan on the other hand are coming off of a loss against Punjab, but the match was rather a display of well-rounded bowling and hard-hitting batting performance. Both teams take it to the pitch today for a chance to move up in the points table.

Delhi Capitals managed to contain Chennai from hitting big in their first match even in the absence of their two best speedsters, but their strategy didn’t work well for final death overs as Chennai smashed 35 runs in the last two overs. Delhi’s openers took to work with full destruction mode as Prithvi Shaw showed his masterclass destructive batting and Shikhar Dhawan also went all out against Chennai, the duo added a total of 138 runs for the opening wicket to secure the win for the team. This game will be a challenging one for them as their bowler Nortje has tested positive for Covid-19 and will be out for a few matches.

Rajasthan Royals have also been consistently performing as their first match was an epic display of batting performance, although Rajasthan’s bowling and fielding efforts did not yield well for them. But captain Sanju Samson showed his class with his unbelievable batting performance as he smashed a whopping 119, while he mercilessly punished Punjab’s bowlers before getting dismissed on the last ball of the match. Sanju Samson was just one sixer away from stealing the match for his team but luck wasn’t in his favor that day, with Ben Stokes ruled out for the rest of the season with an injury, it will be interesting to see how Rajasthan form a new strategy as most of their plan might have been around Stokes. With, Joss Butler now as an option for opening in place of Ben Stokes, it is clear with his batting style that this match might also turn into a pure batting showcase at Wankhede.
