One of the bowling stars of Indian cricket Jasprit Bumrah attracts a lot of strong criticism for his performance in the WTC final. Where he failed to even take a single wicket during the entire test. It was seen in the match that Jasprit Bumrah was not at his best, so it came as an aid to New Zealand batsman to negate his threat.

It looked as if India performed poorly in the all-important WTC final against New Zealand. It was expected to be pace- friendly pitch at Ageas Bowl and with rain and cloudy conditions in Southampton prevailing for the five days of the WTC Final. As a result of which the pitch became difficult to play for the batsman. On the other end, New Zealand bowlers were bowling magnificently in the final as they never let Indian batsmen settle down in the innings.

The Kiwi batsman was bowled out for 249 runs in the first innings by the Indian pacers. They didn’t look as threatening as they did in the second innings. Jasprit Bumrah was never at his best and attained criticism for his performance in the WTC final.

Akash Chopra, the former Indian Batsman and also the well-known commentator found out one of the reasons, why Jasprit Bumrah couldn’t trouble the Kiwi Batsman in Southampton. He said that Jasprit Bumrah bowls with a straight hand and in that wrist position, the bowl doesn’t swing much.

Akash Chopra said “There is no doubt Bumrah is a special bowler, he is one of its kind. Absolute phenomenal bowler but quick in the air. He keeps his hands straight, so the ball goes straight, doesn’t swing much. In the first half of the English summer, you need to make the bowl move lot more because the ball comes slightly slower after pitching. Then it becomes slightly easier to play “. He said all of this on a YouTube channel.

Akash Chopra also said Bumrah would be back to his best in England test series. “In the second half of the English summer, if you bowl at this pace, the airspeed comes very handily because the bowl starts reversing. Let’s be patient, one of the games for Bumrah. I am not going to read too much into his performance Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami bowled more over Bumrah due to the fact they are more experienced. That is also a reason for them to outperform Bumrah in the WTC Final.

Ishant Sharma has also played County cricket in England and Mohammed Shami has played more tests than Jasprit Bumrah.
