Bangladesh Test Cricket Records: Top 5 Batsmen with Highest Fours

A well-struck boundary is one of the most beautiful aspects of Test cricket. It is an incredible masterwork of the batsman’s high standing, as such a stroke can be exceedingly hard to pull off. Nonetheless, there have been some spectacular innings by top batsmen over the years. They’ve been able to break through more than a few barriers.

In this article, we will take a look at the top five Bangladeshi batsmen who have managed to score the highest number of boundaries in the TEST cricket format.

  • Tamim Iqbal

Tamim Iqbal has been incongruent in ODIs, but his Test form has been outstanding. In 2008, he made his Test debut with a couple of fifties against New Zealand in Dunedin. In 2009, he managed to score his first Test century against the West Indies at Kingstown, assisting Bangladesh to their first foreign test victory. Tamim Iqbal has slammed 650 boundaries in the TEST format ranking him first in the list of top five Bangladeshi batsmen who have managed to score the highest number of boundaries in the TEST cricket format.

  • Mushfiqur Rahim

Mushfiqur Rahim, an utter and total dynamo behind the stumps, fits the stereotypical characterization of a wicket-keeper perfectly. He is short, swift behind the stumps, invariably wittering away, and a fantastic batsman. He was initially selected as Khaled Mashud’s understudy for the 2005 tour of England, but after impressing everyone with his bat skills in the tour games, he was promoted to play as a professional batsman in the first Test at the age of 16. As a result, he had become the youngest player to play at Lord’s. Mushfiqur Rahim slammed 630 boundaries in the TEST format, ranking him second in the list of top five Bangladeshi batsmen who have managed to score the highest number of boundaries in the TEST cricket format.

  • Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib proceeded in the same spirit that he displayed in the ODIs in the Test arena. His turning point came in the 2008 Test against New Zealand in Chittagong. He took 7/36, the best figures ever recorded by a Bangladeshi bowler. Shakib also helped contribute a fifty in the second innings, helping New Zealand set a challenging target of 317. Shakib Al Hasan has slammed 523 boundaries in the TEST format, ranking him third in the list of top five Bangladeshi batsmen who have managed to score the highest number of boundaries in the TEST cricket format.

  • Mominul Haque

On March 8, 2013,  Mominul Haque crafted his Test debut for Bangladesh against Sri Lanka in Galle. He managed to score a half-century in his debut Test and finished the series with 156 runs in three innings at a remarkable average of 52. He struck his first century off 100 balls in a Test match against New Zealand in Chittagong. Mominul Haque slammed 409 boundaries in the TEST format, ranking him fourth in the list of top five Bangladeshi batsmen who have managed to score the highest number of boundaries in the TEST cricket format.

  •  Habibul Bashar

Bashar was decided to drop from the Bangladesh team before the first Test match in 2000. He had been performing persistently prior to the beginning of the Test, and the Bangladeshi press widely condemned the selectors’ judgement. This compelled the selectors to have him around the team, and he reacted with a tenacious fifty against India. Bashar never looked back after that, consistently performing at this level. Habibul Bashar slammed 401 boundaries in the TEST format, ranking him fifth in the list of top five Bangladeshi batsmen who have managed to score the highest number of boundaries in the TEST cricket format.
