The other batter to score the fastest 1000 runs in tests is former West Indies batter Everton Weekes . He needed only 12 test innings to amass his first 1000 runs. Weekes played in 48 tests between 1948 and 1958, scoring 4455 runs at an average of 58 with the help of 15 centuries.

Sir Donald Bradman took 13 innings to reach one of the fastest 1000 runs in tests. He registered a triple century, a double century, and three centuries in his first 13 innings to become the fastest Australian batter to score 1000 runs in tests. Bradman featured in 52 tests between 1928 and 1948, amassing 6996 runs at a phenomenal average of 99.94.

Kamindu Mendis – 13 innings
Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis became the Asian batter to score the fastest 1000 runs in tests. He reached 1000 runs in tests in only 13 innings, with the help of five centuries and four fifties. He is also the first player in the history of test cricket to make a fifty-plus knock in each of his first eight test matches. Kamindu averages 91.27 after the 13 innings he has played so far.

Neil Harvey – 14 innings
Australia’s Neil Harvey needed 14 innings to notch up one of the fastest 1000 test runs. He smashed six centuries in his first 14 knocks. Harvey, who played test cricket between 1948 and 1963, appeared in 79 tests and finished with an average of 48.21, with 21 tons.

India’s Vinod Kambli made his first 1000 runs in test cricket in 14 innings with the help of two double centuries and two centuries. The left-hander played only 21 innings in his Test career but ended with a remarkable average of 54.
