The BPL Title found a new home as Rajshahi Warriors scripted history by defeating Chattogram Royals by 63 runs in a one-sided final. A magnificent century from Tanzid Hasan and a devastating bowling spell by Binura Fernando powered Rajshahi to their maiden Bangladesh Premier League crown.

Tanzid Hasan Joins Elite List With Final Century

Rajshahi Warriors, batting first, put up an aggressive competitive 174 for 4, courtesy of Tanzid Hasan’s sensational hundred. The left-hander became only the third batsmen in the BPL history to score a century in a BPL final after Tamim Iqbal and Chris Gayle.

Tanzid anchored the innings with maturity and aggression, striking seven sixes and six fours en route to his 100 off 61 balls, his third T20 century. It was a knock that was the bedrock of Rajshahi’s BPL title-winning total.

Strong Opening Stand Sets the Platform

The game had started rather brightly for Rajshahi as Tanzid Hasan and his opening partner, Sahibzada Farhan, put on an 83-run stand in more than ten overs. Farhan contributed 30 off 30 deliveries, scoring two fours and one six before Tanzid took charge.

A significant 47-run association with Kane Williamson helped stabilize the Rajshahi side. Momentum was kept all the way through the innings.

Chattogram Bowlers Fight Back Late

Despite this onslaught, Mukidul Islam ended as the top bowler from Chattogram’s camp with 2/20 figures on the board. Shoriful Islam, who has had a fantastic season so far, picked two wickets to add to his total of 26 wickets this season despite not being enough to push the opponents to a good total in this Title encounter between Chittagong and Rajshahi in theBPL 2023.

Fernando’s Fiery Spell Breaks Chattogram’s Backbone

Pursuing 175, Chattogram Royals were not able to settle on their feet. Binura Fernando produced the winning performance, starting with the influential dismissal of Mohammed Naim and Mahmudul Hasan Joy in the third over.

Fernando also returned, dismantling the middle order as well as the lower order, dismissing the combination of Asif Ali and Shoriful Islam, finishing with sensational figures of 4 for 9, which firmly placed Rajshahi in command in the BPL Title Final.

Hasan Murad Spins Web as Chattogram Collapse

Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad made matters worse for Chattogram with three crucial scalps, which included Hassan Nawaz, league skipper Mahedi Hasan, and Mirza Baig, enabling Chattogram’s chase to remain unsustained.

Similarly, as wickets were falling regularly, the underdogs, who had performed during the season despite not having a secure ownership position of their teams, were bowled out for 111 in 17.5 overs.

Rajshahi Warriors Dominate to Seal BPL Title

Nor was there to be any late resurgence from the other team, as the rest of the bowling from Murad’s teammates remained as potent. The convincing victory was fitting because it showed all-round strength and earned them the title of BPL Title.
