Carlo Ancelotti Announces His First Brazilian Squad 

New Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti brought back midfielder Casemiro for World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay next week. The 33-year-old Casemiro was the Brazil captain at the 2022 World Cup but has been absent from the national team for about a year.

Ancelotti arrived in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday night after leaving Real Madrid, and the Italian is the first foreigner to coach the five-time World Cup champion full-time in a century.

Ancelotti has handed call-ups to a handful of players he has already worked with, including Casemiro of Manchester United, Real Madrid’s Vini Jr. and Tottenham’s Richarlison

There are also call-ups for two Serie A players with Inter’s Carlos Augusto and Atalanta’s Ederson also being selected. 

There are also two former Juventus full-backs in Ancelotti’s first Brazil squad, namely Danilo and Alex Sandro, both of whom now play for Flamengo.

Carlo Ancelotti is the new head coach of Brazil following a four-year spell with Real Madrid. The Italian gave his first press conference as head coach of the Selecao in Rio De Janeiro on Monday.

“They never called me because they already have a great coach. Brazil called, I am very proud to be here, because the history books show Brazil is the best national team in the world, having won five World Cup trophies. It is a huge responsibility on me to win a sixth,” Ancelotti said when asked why he decided to coach Brazil rather than Italy.
