Carlos Alcaraz achieved a historic victory at the Monte-Carlo Masters 2025 by defeating Italy’s tennis sensation, Lorenzo Musetti, in a thrilling final with a score of 3-6, 6-1, 6-0. This victory marks his first title at the prestigious clay-court tournament and his sixth overall ATP Masters 1000 crown. The win solidifies his position as one of the brightest stars in tennis.

The win is also significant for him as he becomes the first Spanish player to win the Monte-Carlo Masters since Rafael Nadal in 2018. He is also the youngest champion at the tournament at the age of just 21 years and 337 days old since Nadal in 2008. He’s broken many milestones with this win, but the most significant one is his jump from World Number 3 to World Number 2, surpassing Alexander Zverev.

Carlos Alcaraz shared his excitement on winning the Monte-Carlo Masters and said, “I’m just really happy to have won Monte Carlo for the first time. It’s been a really difficult week with a lot of difficult situations. I’m really proud of myself, how I’ve dealt with everything. It’s been a really difficult month for me on the court and outside. Coming here and seeing how the whole hard work has paid off, I’m really happy.”

Musetti struggled physically in the third set and received medical treatment for his right leg, but he continued to play, showcasing his resilience. Carlos Alcaraz acknowledged the fact and shared, “It is not the way I would have wanted to win a match. Lorenzo’s been through a really tough week, long and intense matches. I feel sorry for him, one of the best results he has done. To end like this is not easy. Hopefully, it’s not serious, and he’s 100 percent soon.”

Musetti expressed his gratitude and said, “It was probably one of my best tournaments so far. “I’m disappointed I couldn’t finish the match in the best way for the crowd. You deserve it, so I will keep going and try and come back for revenge.”

Both players will now continue their clay court journey at the Barcelona Open next week.
