Chelsea set to secure British record transfer with £115m deal for Moises Caicedo
Premier League giants Chelsea make football history with a British record £115 million transfer deal for midfielder Moises Caicedo from Brighton & Hove Albion. The deal surpasses previous records and highlights Chelsea’s intent to bolster their squad.
Chelsea, a Premier League team, and Brighton & Hove Albion have reached an agreement for midfielder Moises Caicedo that would cost a British record £115 million ($146 million).
According to a Sky Sports report, Chelsea is thought to be paying an initial £100 million as well as £15 million in performance-related add-ons.
The price agreed upon for Caicedo is higher than the £107 million Chelsea paid for Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez in January, shattering the British transfer record.
According to the report, Caicedo has been given permission by Brighton to have a medical on Monday and is expected to sign an eight-year contract with Chelsea.
The Ecuadorian international was also a target for Premier League rivals Liverpool, who on Friday reached an agreement with Brighton for a reportedly record £110 million sum.
Liverpool and Caicedo reached agreement last week on a pricey £111 million deal. The deal, however, fell through when the 21-year-old expressed his desire to join Chelsea instead.
