China Triumphs in Men’s Gymnastics Team Event at Hangzhou Asian Games

China secures gold in men’s gymnastics team competition at the 19th Asian Games, outperforming Japan and Chinese Taipei.

In a dazzling display of gymnastic prowess, China emerged victorious in the men’s gymnastics team event at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, clinching the gold medal with an impressive score of 262.025 points. China’s gymnasts outshone their rivals, Japan and Chinese Taipei, who secured the second and third positions, respectively.

China assembled a formidable team for the Asian Games, demonstrating their commitment to success. In contrast, Japan, their arch-rival, chose to send its top athletes to the world championships, which coincided with the Asian Games schedule, as reported by Xinhua.

The competition began with Lan Xingyu representing China, achieving a score of 12.000 points on the pommel horse. Zhang Boheng and Xiao Ruoteng followed suit with scores of 14.466 and 14.333, respectively, while Lin Chaopan contributed with a score of 13.266.

China displayed their dominance in the men’s rings, with Lan, Zou Jingyuan, and Zhang securing the top three spots. This stellar performance earned China a total of 44.466 points in the event, surpassing second-placed Japan by a notable margin of 2.967 points.

Olympic champion Zou Jingyuan excelled in the parallel bars, claiming the top position with a remarkable score of 15.933 points. Zhang, closely following, achieved a score of 15.466.

Despite not fielding their strongest lineup, Japan’s athletes delivered commendable performances. Wataru Tanigawa and Kakeru Tanigawa secured top positions in the vault and horizontal bar qualifications, respectively. Their combined efforts earned Japan the silver medal, with a total score of 258.628 points.

Zhang, expressing his satisfaction with the team’s performance, remarked, “We performed very well and won the gold medal in a comfortable way. We will strive for even greater achievements in the upcoming competitions.”

Furthermore, as the team event also served as the qualification round for the individual apparatus events, Chinese athletes have successfully qualified for each of the seven individual events, showcasing their strength and potential for further success.
