Hurricane Warning in Miami: Kane Brace Sends Bayern Munich Through as Flamengo Crumble
Harry Kane is a menace. A polite, post-match-handshake kind of menace but a menace nonetheless. And in Miami, he reminded Flamengo and the rest of the Club World Cup hopefuls why he’s still one of football’s deadliest weapons.
The England skipper slammed home his 40th and 41st goals of the season as Bayern Munich knocked out Flamengo in a 5-goal thriller to reach the quarter-finals. If you blinked during the first 10 minutes, you probably missed the Germans going 2-0 up.
Fast Start, Furious Kane
It took just six minutes for the chaos to kick off. Flamengo’s Erick Pulgar scored an absolute nightmare of an own goal trying to deal with a Kimmich corner, only to slice it into the net off the inside of the far post. Things only got worse for the Brazilians from there.
Just three minutes later, Kane did Kane things. Dayot Upamecano bullied Giorgian de Arrascaeta off the ball, Kane picked up the loose change, and lashed in a low effort (with a helpful deflection off Leo Ortiz). 2-0 Bayern, and Flamengo hadn’t even broken a sweat, unless you count the panic.

Gerson Brings Hope Briefly
To their credit, Flamengo fought back. Gerson’s screamer in the 33rd minute gave the Brazilian fans something to shout about and left Manuel Neuer flat-footed. But just as the momentum started to shift, Leon Goretzka restored Bayern’s two-goal cushion with a thunderbolt from range. It swerved, dipped, and made keeper Agustin Rossi look like he’d just seen a UFO.
3-1. Classic Bayern. Relentless.
Jorginho Penalty, Then Kane Shuts It Down
Former Arsenal and Chelsea man Jorginho gave Flamengo another lifeline early in the second half, calmly rolling in a penalty after Michael Olise got a bit too handsy inside the box. Neuer went one way, the ball went the other. 3-2. Game on?
Not quite.
Kimmich, pulling strings like a footballing puppeteer, slipped Kane in behind with 18 minutes left and the Englishman made no mistake. Composed finish. No fuss. 4-2. Curtains.
Kane Keeps the Records Coming
Kane has now bagged 40+ goals in back-to-back seasons, a career-first. He’s also leading this Club World Cup like a man on a mission, with three goals already in the bag. At 31, he’s still aging like a fine German Riesling.

Bayern, who made seven changes after a 1-0 loss to Benfica midweek, looked much sharper here. Vincent Kompany’s rotation gamble paid off, as his side matched Flamengo’s pressing game and simply outclassed them in the moments that mattered.
Pulgar’s Nightmare Afternoon
If there’s one man who’ll want to delete this game from memory, it’s Pulgar. An own goal, a yellow-card tackle on Kane, and then a stretcher exit before half-time. Brutal.
Next Stop: PSG Showdown
Bayern now move on to face Paris Saint-Germain in what could be the real final before the final. Kane vs Dembele. Goretzka vs Neves. Fireworks guaranteed.
