UEFA Champions League Quarter Final 2017/18
Real Madrid had already won the Champions League twice in a row and was in the running to retain their title and make it three straight in the 2017–18 campaign. They were paired with a well-known opponent in the quarterfinals. Real had already met Juventus; in the competition’s finals in 2016–17, Real famously defeated them. Everyone, especially Madrid supporters, was upset as the game ended in a stalemate despite the match’s high expectations. Within three minutes, Real took the lead thanks to a goal from Ronaldo, who deflected his 118th Champions League goal after Isco punched in a low cross for him. Juventus created few half-chances, with Higuain showing the most promise in the early minutes. At the 36-minute mark, Kroos hit the bar with a potent long drive. Real Madrid had a slim advantage at the end of the opening period.

UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final 2016/17
Real Madrid welcomed FC Bayern to the Bernabeu for the second leg of their Champions League quarterfinal matchup after winning the first leg 2-1 in Munich. Real Madrid was the early favourite to win. They would have advanced to the semifinals if they had kept whatever advantage they had. Yet, the man in white made the decision to put on a performance that the crowd would never forget. A goalless first half was maintained. But, there was plenty of action to enjoy. On one end, Arturo Vidal and Robert Lewandowski posed a persistent threat to Keylor Navas’s goal, while on the other, Karim Benzema, Mario Carvajal, Neymar, and Cristiano Ronaldo made vicious attempts that Manuel Neuer saved. The game continued at a similar pace in the second half. The closest either club came to scoring was at the 50-minute mark when Arjen Robben forced Marcelo to clear the ball off the goal line. In the 103rd minute, Ramos found Cristiano Ronaldo inside the box, and Ronaldo set himself up to half-volley the ball past Neuer. Five minutes later, Cristiano scored his third goal after Marcelo found him in the open due to some shoddy Bayern defence. With a skillfully placed shot to the far post that was blasted low and sharp into the bottom corner, Asensio added the finishing touches to a night that was unquestionably Cristiano Ronaldo’s. Real Madrid then breezed into the semifinals.

UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final 2015/16
Real Madrid greeted Wolfsburg at the Bernabeu in the quarterfinals of the 2015–16 Champions League with an unexpected two-goal disadvantage from the first leg. If Real Madrid was to advance in the competition and add another European Cup to the coveted La Decima in 2013/14, they would have a monumental challenge ahead of them. Real Madrid had the appearance of a team on a mission. From the first whistle, they controlled play and put the German defence to the test with waves upon waves of a well-planned offensive. After only 15 minutes, they had their reward as Cristiano Ronaldo was wonderfully positioned by Dani Carvajal to score at the far post into an empty net. But, the task was far from over. Real still needed to score goals to stay alive. Ronaldo scored the final goal of his hat trick to save Real Madrid’s prospects. Both Jese Rodriguez and Karim Benzema had two incredible chances blocked by the custodian.

La Liga (April 11, 2012)
The La Liga 11–12 championship battle was close. Real Madrid was in the lead and had a chance to overtake FC Barcelona, which was in second position, by four points. But there was one issue: Real had to defeat a formidable Atletico team at Vicente Calderon Stadium. Atletico won the first 20 minutes of the game; they had better chances and more scoring opportunities, but nothing to show for it. Everything started to turn in Real’s favour as the game came to a close. At a point in the game when Atleti was trailing by just one goal, the seasoned Diego Godin made an outrageously reckless challenge inside the penalty area and pulled down Gonzalo Higuain. There was only one person who could take the spot kick, and he was excellent. Ronaldo’s hat trick and the 40-goal threshold in the league were both attained with that strike. He wasn’t finished, though. Ronaldo finished off a superb performance by providing a fantastic assist for Jose Callejon to score Real Madrid’s fourth goal. It takes a special kind of accomplishment to maintain stealing attention from 21 other players or the pitch for 90 continuous minutes. Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance in the league’s second El Derbi of the 2011–12 season was his finest in a league game.

UEFA Champions League Final 2016/17
Real Madrid has always placed a high priority on winning the Champions League. It wasn’t shocking that even Ronaldo thought this prize was more important. Ronaldo’s winning mentality fits perfectly with the Champions League’s premise, which was to demonstrate that Real Madrid was the best team among the best in Europe. The fact that four of his best five performances on this list came in the highly coveted Champions League is not surprising. The UEFA Champions League final between Real Madrid and Juventus on June 3, 2017, had one such performance. The game took place at Cardiff’s National Stadium of Wales on what is now known as La Duodecima night. Gonzalo Higuain, a former player for Real Madrid, was a persistent threat to Keylor Navas’s goal as Juventus got off to a good start. Real Madrid had to rely on their capacity for counter-attacking. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a low, wonderfully placed effort into the bottom left corner after receiving a cut-back from Dani Carvajal during one of these counterattacks.
