Freestyle Skiing Moguls World Cup 2024: Who To Look For In Burkini

The FIS Freestyle Skiing Moguls World Cup is set to take place in Bakuriani, Georgia from 19-21 December. 

Skiers will stand the chance to pocket World Cup points and make sure to book a berth for the Winter Olympics 2026. 

FIS Freestyle Skiing Moguls World Cup 2024, Bakuriani: Skiers To Watch Out For

The third round of the FIS Freestyle Skiing Moguls World Cup is set to be staged in Bakuriani, which played host to the 2023 FIS Freestyle Skiing World Championships.

France’s Perrine Laffont, who claimed her second world championship title in 2023 in this very venue, will be looking to replicate the feat. Fresh off two podium finishes at the World Cup in Ruka, Finland, and Idre Fjäll, Sweden, Laffont is a hot favourite to win the event.

Canada’s Maia Schwinghammer and a host of American skiers will be looking for a podium finish.  

However, Beijing 2022 Olympic champion Jakara Anthony will be missing from the competition in Bakuriani due to an injury she suffered during the second World Cup competition of the season.

In the men’s field, Mikael Kingsbury will look to continue an uninterrupted run of World Cup victories at the Georgian resort.

Japan’s Ikuma Horishima, who’s made both World Cup podiums this season, is another skier to watch out for as he is not going to make it easy for Kingsbury. With an Olympic bronze medal to his kitty, Horishima would certainly be a top contender at the event.

Sweden’s Walter Wallberg – gold medallist in the men’s moguls at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 will be hungry for a podium finish. He’s stood on both podiums this Kingsbury and Horishima this season but has yet to find a victory of his own.
