Cricket Namibia has appointed Gary Kirsten as a consultant in a major move for the country’s men’s national team as preparations go into overdrive ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The former South African international brings with him decades of elite experience both as a player and as a world-class coach.
World Cup-Winning Coach to Guide Namibia
Gary Kirsten, who gathered 7289 Test runs and 6798 ODI runs in an illustrious international career, has compiled an equally impressive coaching résumé.
His major coaching achievements include:
Led India to the 2011 World Cup title, helped South Africa reach the top rank of Test cricket, and served as batting coach for Pakistan. He has also been involved as an IPL coach, including as part of the title-winning team of the Gujarat Titans in 2022. This résumé is that of one of the most significant modern coaches in cricket.
