IPL 2026 is just two games away from getting a champion. Rajasthan Royals (RR) entered Qualifier 2 after securing a commanding 47-run win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans (GT), who suffered an embarrassing 92-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier 1 clash, will lock horns against RR in Qualifier 2 on May 29 at the New PCA Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh.
The team that emerges victorious in the Qualifier 2 clash will face the defending champion RCB at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31. Although Rajasthan Royals are the favourites, one just can’t write Gujarat Titans off, as they showed an impressive show throughout the season. GT’s main concern is their batting; if the top three fail to perform, the opposition is guaranteed a win.
GT vs RR: 3 Reasons why GT might win IPL 2026 Qualifier 2
Ahead of the blockbuster Qualifier 2 match between the Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, let’s take a look at this photo collection and find out about the 3 main reasons why the Gujarat Titans can win the IPL 2026 playoffs.
1. Strong bowling attack led by Kagiso Rabada
Gujarat Titans bowling unit has been the best unit among all the franchises in IPL 2026, as their wicket-taking capabilities played a crucial role in powering the side to the playoffs. Five GT bowlers – Kagiso Rabada, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj, Jason Holder, and Prasidh Krishna have picked at least 15 wickets this season, which marks just the second time a team has achieved this feat. Although RR has a solid batting line-up, GT bowlers can wreak havoc in the RR camp.
Kagiso Rabada has picked a total of 26 wickets in IPL 2026 in 15 matches, while Rashid Khan has picked 19, Mohammed Siraj 17, Jason Holder and Prasidh Krishna 15 each.
2. Impressive top-order batting lineup
Gujarat Titans have an impressive top-order batting line up with Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler. Although they lost heavily against RCB in the qualifier 1 clash, the top three batters are known for their destructive batting in IPL. The pair of Gill and Sudharsan is a headache for the opposition team, they equalled the record for most 100-runs partnership in IPL. They have scored a total of 2500-plus runs in IPL as an opening pair.
After Gill and Sudharsan, Buttler is also a crucial part of their batting lineup, who is known for giving finishing touches. GT lost their Qualifier 1 match, but the only positive they carried from that match was the return of Rahul Tewatia, who scored an explosive knock of 68 off 43 balls, which featured 8 boundaries and four sixes.
3. Head-to-head momentum
Talking about the head-to-head, in a total of 7. Gujarat holds the upper hand with 7 wins, while RR has won 3 matches. In their previous meeting in Jaipur, GT secured a commanding 77-runs win RR, thanks to an impressive performance from Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan.
