The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 has ended, and New Zealand is the champion! They announced a special team called the Team of the Tournament, which includes players from seven different teams.

New Zealand and South Africa each have three players on the team, including one extra player. Players from England, India, the West Indies, Bangladesh, and Australia are also recognized.

Amelia Kerr stood out during the tournament. She won both the Player of the Match in the final and the Player of the Tournament. At 24 years old, she took 15 wickets, the most ever in a single ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, and scored 135 runs, with 43 runs in the final.

Kerr’s teammates, Rosemary Mair and Eden Carson, also did well. Mair took 10 wickets, including three in the final, and Carson, the extra player, took nine wickets in total.

South Africa’s opening players, Tazmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt, are important members of the team. Wolvaardt was the top scorer in the tournament with 223 runs, including four innings of 40 or more, and her highest score was 59 not out. She also captains the Team of the Tournament. Brits scored 187 runs, with a best score of 57 not out.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge from England also did well, scoring 151 runs in total. She was important in key matches, with scores of 41, 43, and 51.

For bowling, Nonkululeko Mlaba from South Africa made history by being the first player from her country to take 10 wickets in one ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. She had great games, taking four wickets against the West Indies and getting important wickets in the semi-final and final.

Nigar Sultana, the captain of Bangladesh, was the wicketkeeper. She helped her team win against Scotland and scored 39 runs against the West Indies and 32 not out against South Africa.

Harmanpreet Kaur from India did well too, averaging 150, remaining not out in three of her four innings, and scoring half-centuries against Sri Lanka and Australia.

Megan Schutt from Australia became the highest wicket-taker in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup history, reaching 48 wickets with strong bowling throughout the tournament.

Deandra Dottin and Afy Fletcher from the West Indies also made the team. Dottin returned from retirement, scoring 120 runs and taking five wickets, hitting nine sixes during the tournament. Fletcher, a skilled leg-spinner, took 10 wickets with a great average.
