India secured a spot in the final of the Compound Mixed Team archery event at the 19th Asian Games by defeating Kazakhstan in the semifinals.

In the semifinal showdown, the Indian duo of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Deotale outscored the Kazakhstan pair of Adel Zhexenbinova and Andrey Tyutyun with a final score of 159-154.

In the Compound Mixed Team competition, male and female archers take turns shooting two arrows at the target in each round, with the team earning the most points over four such rounds (a total of 16 arrows per team) emerging as the winner.

After the first round (known as the End in archery), the Indian team was trailing by one point, with a score of 39-40, as the Kazakh archers hit perfect 10s on each arrow.

However, in the next End, Jyothi and Ojas bounced back with a perfect score of 40, taking the lead as the Kazakh team shot two 9s, resulting in a 40-38 round victory for India.

Heading into the third End with a one-point lead (79-78), India extended their advantage by one more point, leading 119-116 as Tyutyun scored an 8.

In the fourth and final End, the Indian team clinched a 40-38 victory, securing a semifinal win with a final score of 159-154 and earning their spot in the final.

In the gold medal match, India will face the Republic of Korea, who defeated Chinese Taipei 158-153 in the second semifinal.
