India won the toss & chose to field.
New Zealand puts 153 Runs on the board
After a great start, 1st dismissal for the Black Caps as Martin Guptill got out after a quick knock of 31 (off 15 balls), as Rishabh Pant caught it after the ball went high up in the air with Deepak Chahar picking the wicket. New Zealand was 48/1 (4.2 overs).
Meanwhile, after the powerplay, they were 64/1.
However, two wickets fall in quick succession of Mark Chapman on 21 (off 17 balls), hits big off Axar Patel’s bowling but finds KL Rahul at the boundary line. The next dismissal was of Daryl Mitchell on 31 (off 28 balls) as Harshal Patel gets his Maiden International Wicket. New Zealand was at 90/3 in 11.2 overs.
Then, 3 wickets fall in quick succession of Tim Seifert, Glenn Phillips on 34 (off 21 balls) & James Neesham. They were at 140/6 (17.6 overs).
New Zealand finished their innings at 153/6 (20 overs).
India’s Target is 154 Runs
After the powerplay, India was at 45/0. However, the opening pair of KL Rahul & Rohit Sharma dominated the innings as Rahul reached his half-century.
Meanwhile, India was in a comfortable position as they reached the 100-mark without losing a wicket. Then the 1st wicket falls of KL Rahul on 65 (off 49 balls) as Glenn Phillips caught it and Tim Southee picked the wicket. India was at 117/1 in 13.2 overs.
But then New Zealand skipper Tim Southee picked 2 wickets in an over, of Rohit Sharma on 55 (off 36 balls) & Suryakumar Yadav. At that stage, India were 137/3 (15.6 overs).
In the end, Rishabh Pant hits the winning boundary. As Venkatesh Iyer on 12* (off 11 balls) and Pant on 12* (off 6 balls) remained unbeaten. India finished their innings at 155/3 (17.2 overs).
As a result, India won the match by 7 wickets and seal the T20I series by 2-0. Hence, the Player of the Match was awarded to Harshal Patel – 2/25. Meanwhile, the 3rd T20I between India vs New Zealand will be played on 21st November, Sunday at Kolkata.
